(Home) Engine conversion

Hi everyone,
Can the 3CT Engine replace the 2CT? If so what is the difference in the specifications (bore / stroke & timing belt)?
I suspect my engine needs a Cyl. Head.
Regards,
Joel.

yes it can- some later (post93?) townies came with it. Not sure about B&S. 3ct is 2200cc. Some people say the larger mill gives better mpg, doesn't change performance though...

Joel,
The 3ct is fairly hard to get hold of, a friend wanted one which had to be imported, it arrived 12 weeks later and was the bare block and head, a longer wait for gaskets and some ancilliaries, can't remember what, a good overhaul/rebuild and ready to go in. He dropped the old one out the bottom as it was considered better to remove the crossmembers than out through the top. It was more than double the price of a 2ct (which you can get complete and ready to go!).
Sunbeach.net Barbados? First Japan then UK then Russia and now W.I.. Any English manuals available?

My 1994 Townie - which replaced our SpaceWagon four weeks ago - comes with a 3-CT engine of 2.2litre.

I understand that the same engine (but with electronic fuel injection) powers the Toyota Picnic which they sell in the UK. So maybe you could get an engine manual in English without undue difficulty.

I leave my car mechanics to the pros - I could no more fix my car than I could make my own shoes.

Yours, in technical illiteracy,
Tony
