(Home) Increasing idle speed

Hi all,

Mine is a Lite Ace, Diesel 2C (non turbo). Over the past two years I have noted that the idle speed has increased slightly. I reduced it about 1year back and recently I had reduce it again. I reduced the speed with the accelerator-rest adjestment. I have also noted that km/lit. has reduced (from ~12km/l to ~10.5km/l), increase the black smoke, and also feeling little decrease in power. What could be the reason? please reply,

Sounds like your pump and timing need recalibrated

Hi,

I was also told to check the high altitude compensator (he is not a toyta expert). But I don't know whether I have one of those or where to look. Can U please help me on this.

May or may not have one. there are two types- one is a timing advancer fitted at the side of the pump- this is interchangeable with a temperature controlled advancer depending on model. Two water pipes going to it means temperature...
The other most likely type is a bellows assembly in the top of the pump under a domed cover. It's linked to the fuel governor and yes, if so fitted, a faulty bellows (anaeroid) could affect the fuelling. Shouldn't affect tickover though.
Give me the full model of your bus, and I'll see what is meant to be fitted. (CR21x xxxx and year)
