(Home) Increasing idle speed / speedo dial

Hi David,

I was asking a question about increasing idle speed (before this board was destroyed). I was told by someone it could be the high altitude compensator. When I asked from U where is it (or whether I have one)? U wanted me to send me the modle no. I don't know exact model no. (it is something like CM36...). How can I find it? (All I have is the chassis no. and engine no. in the owners certificate)

There is another thing, last weekend I serviced the vehicle and I changed Air cleaner and oil filter. I had a problem with black smoke and now it was greatly reduced and I got the power back too. But still my fuel economy is not good. I want to know how many adjestments that the diesel pump have, and where are they?

Thanks in advance, Harshana - (#5039) Harshana, 7 Aug 02

How many? too many to fiddle with...
idle, max revs, overall fuel, timing, timing advance, cold start advance. Turbos, off boost, full boost, boost gradient. Altitude compensation fuel/ timing. Fast idle.
The full model number is on the plate under the front of the drivers seat (lift the little carpet flap...)

OK Harshana. I've looked up the cd for your cr36, and it's a basic non-turbo pump, with no altitude compensation. So the likelyhood is either duff injectors or a worn pump- the governor lever may be worn, making the fuelling vary. Only a stripdown and overhaul by a diesel specialist is likely to help.
You could however just keep turning the pump down a bit...
Last possibilities, fuel filter pump timing, injectors.

Umm, what do you want to know? Telepathy isn't a strong point here believe it or not...

I recently asked about a speedo facia km/h -mph and was told to try eurospec2000, I e.mailed them but they don't seem to want my custom. So I was wandering if anyone had a part number for said item, so I can ask My local motor factors.
I would also like to know how difficult it is to fit shockers to my 89 masterace. Thanks.

2.2l Turbo Royal Lounge K Reg

I have recently purchased a Townace, which was reduced to £4k because of the high mileage (138,000), I have now realised that it's in km's not miles.
Would the DVLA know about this? If the previous owner informed them of the mileage on sale, then if I should ever sell and give a far lower mileage would there be problems?

By the way after a trip on holiday with all the kids I have no intension of selling...brilliant vehicle.

Shouldn't be a problem, the mileage to DVLA on the sellers portion of the reg doc doesn't mean anything, and anyone who is buying one of these vehicles will know that they are in Km, so you shouldn't have a problem, just divide by 1,6 & then you've got your mileage. HTH Rob.
