(Home) Mot suspension parts needed

Hi - we have a Toyota Liteace 1991 2 litre TD import and its just failed its MOT because of worn front top ball joints and scored front brake discs. I know that the discs can be skimmed and the disc pads built up, but its a case of 'a short intake of breath' when it comes to the ball joints - with it being an import and all that usual guff. So has anyone had this problem and can anybody could up with a solution
Thanks Jason

Hi Rob
Just seen your handy list of parts for Townaces (Dec 01). Could you please see our message re
mot parts needed as I think you've quoted the parts we need, but I'd like to be certain. Many Thanks, your advice has been invaluable in the past

You don't say if yours is a 4x4 or a RWD, it makes alot of difference, as the final running gear is different.

4x4 RWD
ADT343140c Front discs ADT34326
ADT34223 Front Pads ADT34214
Not Available, Upper Ball Joint ADT38624
May be dealer only.

these should be the parts you need. HTH Rob.

Thanks Rob, for info managed to sort out front pads from local ADL factor supplier. However, although, they say the part number ADT 38624 is ball joint, they don't have any info to confirm it will fit our Toyota. Its full name is Toyota Liteace FXV 4WD 2L TD, it is mainly 2x2 drive, but you can put it into 4WD when the going gets tough. This is becoming desperate now, as no ball joints replaced, means no Liteace on road, everything else can be sorted. All info gratefully receceived and thanks again Rob for your help

4wd upper ball joint is dealer only, the complete top wishbone must be replaced, £200...

David is right, no one does a pettern part for the top ball joints, not even ADL, it is dealer only part. HTH Rob.

Thanks Dave and Rob for your advice, phoned JCT 600 Hull (01482 586733), who can get the parts, give advice immediately and also the invaluable 10% discount. Looks like we could be sorted - pity about the delay in getting the parts in though, still when you own a dream machine, not everything is easy.

Am i right when i say the front suspension wishbones on 2wd,s have no lubrication points in the bushes where they attatch to the chassis - also the lower wishbone seems to have some sort of eccentric pin/bush around the chassis pivot even has graduated marks on the thick washer
anyone removed a wishbone or torsion bar yet?
i am trying to sort out my squeek and the only two grease points seem to be on the upper and lower ball joints . just for interest looks like 8 the anti roll bar doughnut rubbers are simular to mark 2 astras

I had my front ball joints replaced a couple of months ago and off the top of my head they were about £35 each. I'll have a look for the receipt tomorrow and get you the true price.

I'm not sure whether this is expensive or not but I had to have them replaced because I let the bushes go too long before getting the work done.

Yes I was correct.... the cost in total was £91 which included parts and labour to replace.
