(Home) Oil and holidays in dorset

i just changed the oil in my lite ace,it came out like treacle and took about an hour to drain out.i changed it about 4 months ago and replaced the filter, the oil presure light came on the other day after a trip to dorset so i dipped the oil and it was near the level so i thought i'd best change it.as i said it was very thick and lumpy.is this normal for a diesel engine.the oil i had in it was magnatec is thi any good for my car or what.
just like to say how good it was to see so many townies last week on my hols.i was at swanage in dorset, and went to weymouth on carnival day and saw a load over there aswell.there was also a townie with an awning on the side on the site i was staying on,didnt have chance to speek but it looked a good idea.i wonder if any of you lot where on holiday there last week ?

Dave. Diesel engine oil will soon become black, due to the soot and other contaminants held in suspension and it is vital to change the oil regularly and, at alternate changes, the filter as well. I change my oil at 3000 miles. This might seem extravagant but, oil is cheaper than engines.
I always use Castrol Magnatec GTD, semi synthetic, and I drain it when it is hot. It takes about 3/4 minutes to completely drain so your one hour drain is a little bit mystifying. Have you had your vehicle long ? Did the previous owner neglect the oil changes and, is your engine due for a good flush to remove built up sludge deposits? I should think that another oil change, using the latest change as a "flush", would do the engine a lot of good
