(Home) Owner keeping fingers crossed

Hi all,
It has finally arrived, two weeks in the south of france in the townie.I have fitted new timing belt and all ancilliary belts, changed engine oil twice and gearbox oil twice. New tyres on the front load index 91 max 36psi??? Air con re-gassed.When i bought it and found this web-site the first thing i wanted to do was flush the coolant, new thermostat, new viscous coupling and new rad cap.... After reading about all the probs some of you have had it is the only things i haven't dared touch. I have no leaks, it doesn't loose any water so i figured don't fix what ain't broke or risk getting air locks or leaking pipes after messin with them.We are off on fri 6/9/02 so no time to drill thermostat or change to durite gauge...... Last year we did 2760 miles (2000 corolla) i am hoping we will do the same this year without major upsets (still we have breakdown cover).I will let you know how it went on my return!!! with a couple of pics hopefully. Just off to say a quick prayer or 3, cheers. Tim.j

Tim,

Go, go and go for it and all the luck in the world! If you can, keep a diary :>) or drop a note or two from time to time. I am planning my "Accross Africa on a Townie" for end of year and will enjoy reading what others have to share, on their long journeys... BTW
What townie is it, what's fitted (equip) and how many souls will you be moving?

Enjoy it,
Manecas
