(Home) Jam 2003 Woodvale #2

I am trying to organise a rally near Blackpool. If you live near or have used a camp site in the area please let me know. The ones on the Web don't take tents or are too expensive. E-Mail me direct don't reply here. An idea of numbers would also help.
Apart from the pleasure beach, there would need to be something to keep younger children amused, good toilets/showers, and a bonus would be shop-bar-clubhouse.
Not sure of the date yet May/June ish.
Now where did I put those sleeping bags.

Any idears for the 2003 meetings ???????

Woodvale Rally at Southport in August ?????
more info e:mail me......

it's a great weekend of things to do.......

- (#6151) paul morgan, 20 Nov 02

The £30 entrance fee was a bit of a turnoff for me I'm afraid ...

- (#6152) Ian Dunse, 21 Nov 02

It only cost me £2.00........for both days...
If you show your car...sorry Townie.. you can get in as a car club as I did.....

Get back to me if any of you fancy the show????

Paul

- (#6226) Paul Morgan, 26 Nov 02

is there anyone out there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

let's try to get 2003 ace-jam on the planning table ??

any idears for meetings ?????????????

august (first weekend ) woodvale rally ????
there is a dead line to enter with it only costing last year £2.00 per townie for both days..

regards to all this christmas time......
don't forget to buy your townace a gift !!

- (#6605) paul, 21 Dec 02

Hello Paul,

From my own personal opinion, my townace is nothing to write home about and certainly not up to a showing standard. I wouldn't particularly feel confident in entering my vehicle into some kind of show. All I would be after is a chance to meet up with other owners and have a bit of a chin wag.

I'd be able to make it this year, my overheating problems having been cured with the viscous coupling replaced, thanks Ian. I would also like the opportunity to bring the family so some facilities would be a big advantage.
- (#6606) Mark, 21 Dec 02

Woodvale 2003.Aug.....

yes it is a show but........there are many car clubs who's members car are not in show cond'....
This is not the point of the show....

People travel from all over for the show, cars/lorry/buses/van/bike (pedal& motor)steam engines/tanks ETC ETC

Woodvale has been going for a long time as a model airplane show & has grown from there....
The thing is it only costs £2.00 per car for the weekend. And you can camp on site ( limited services )or there are touring sites not to far away.....

Ask Ray Ambler...he knows it well.?

regards for now. I have last years programme..I'll try & get it scanned & put on

Paul
- (#6607) paul, 27 Dec 02

hi i went to woodvale last year, always go for the aicraft rally, but could not find a large number of townaces, i did get a windscren posting for the townace site though, i was parked in the disabled section.

alternatively you could consider the southport air show in september, there is a large field behind the fair.

john

- (#6674) john collier, 3 Jan 03

John...... there was three Townies on show....we where at the far side of the clubs,I had my 22ft caravan there on the saturday....

THE DATES FOR THIS YEARS SHOW WILL BE 2nd & 3rd OF AUGUST 2003.

regards to all

Paul

- (#6689) paul, 8 Jan 03

We were in one of the 3 townies on show last year ant woodvale. £2.00 to get our townie and five passengers into the show.

It was worth entering just to get into the event at that price! Loads to do for us and our 3 teenage kids. If we had known how much there was going on there we would have arranged to be there for both days. The saturday just wasnt long enough.

It was also great to meet up with other Townie owners.
If its on again this year, we will definitely be joining the crowd (Hopefully). There was one guy who had travelled up from somewhere down south and was disappointed to find only 3 Townaces. Let's make sure no one is disappointed this year.

All the best
Colin and Karen.

- (#6730) Colin & Karen Jones, 11 Jan 03

is there any body intersted in the ace meeting at Woodvale for this Ausgust....I know it's early to arange but if there are a few of us I look a round for camp sites etc for us to use..I only live 15 miles away from Woodvale.........

regards to you all......

Paul

- (#6937) paul, 24 Jan 03

Off site camping ????? do any of you need it ??

regards
Paul

- (#8647) paul, 19 May 03 15:55

Paul,
If the onsite camping only has a portaloo then yes the wife would like somewhere else. Loos showers and electric hook up are her base line, anything else would be a bonus. If you could have a look round I'd be grateful.
Clive, hoping the dates don't clash with my trip to Austria.

- (#8648) Clive, 20 May 03 1:21

Requested price for using the field. See what they come back with.

- (#8650) Clive, 21 May 03 1:54

after reading the woodvale web site i find that the entry to the show is now gone up to £20 a family..
so show your townace & get in for only £2.00 plus you get a souvenir plaque from the show free !! for both days.......................................

- (#8744) paul, 24 May 03 15:10

Cost for using the rally field at WILLOWBANK Holiday home & Trg Park is too expensive for just the addition of a shower facility. Plus you have to pay for 2 days in advance. £28 for a pitch with no electric hook up and a long walk to the utilities.
How much is it to camp at Woodville?

Who is attending, and with what ??????

Lets see the list

Can only make Sunday with my Royal Lounge :o)

See you all there..!!

- (#9643) Martin Green, 15 Jul 03 1:39

I'm attending for the flying & will have my 1990 Masterace Surf SuperTouring 4WD 2.0TD on the stand both days. See you there..

- (#9644) Ray, 15 Jul 03 2:17

And me, with my ordinary Masterace 4WD with it's tables set up and a few copies of the construction sheets if anyone should want them. Oh yes, and my Grandson as a passenger.

- (#9645) John Davis, 15 Jul 03 3:09

I'll be there with my 2WD Royal Lounge and son (14). Arriving Friday to help set up, then camping on the stand.
Ray are you flying your own?
Table construction, saw Dave Mason's and was impressed, to have a construction sheet may kick me into building one.

- (#9646) Clive, 15 Jul 03 3:34

Well I'm not attending this one but if I say I will be there in 'spirit' can I have a build sheet please? I've been tasked with making a table after we saw Dave's. A plan would be brilliant and save me much needed time.

- (#9647) Ian Dunse, 15 Jul 03 7:03

Hi Folks..I'll be in my 4x4 townace SE, towing my 21 & a half foot caravan..I'll be parking it up on Friday but I'm not staying as I live only 15 miles away..Along with a few signs I've been making..

..... UK-ACES......

Paul & the gang

- (#9648) Paul, 15 Jul 03 14:46

6 of us then .....

It'll be a cheap round for you then Paul :o)

- (#9649) Martin Green, 16 Jul 03 13:15

i will be there on saturday, not sure about sunday
14 year old & me, wont be staying as i am even closer than paul, 12 miles

- (#9747) john collier, 17 Jul 03 14:32

I will be coming with the hiace (operating temp permitting) on either Sat or Sun, with or without company - but later than the suggested times (prob after lunch - hope this does'nt cause entry probs) - not overnighting as only 40 mins away
Chris

- (#9748) chris turner, 18 Jul 03 18:25

There are 10 tickets for Townaces sent out.....
and three to one person ! two townaces & a ford show car...........
I'm bringing my caravan so there will be a bit of shad if needed.

regards

Paul

- (#9749) Paul, 19 Jul 03 2:46

Help, any spare tickets out there for woodvale, Sunday, from no shows or people who cant make it? Much appreciated if I could make it this late in the day and show my 92 4wn lite ace gxl.

- (#10108) craig, 31 Jul 03 2:46

I also will be there both days but not staying over as am fairley local,I will be in 2ltr "Grand Turismo" 4x,Please keep me a copy of your table construction as mine is in danger of collapsing with more than a couple of cups onit.Seeyoall Stuart H.

- (#9695) Stuart Holding, 19 Jul 03 19:41

Hi Everybody.
Couldn't make Woodvale, spacecruiser needed work doing. Does anybody have a table diagram that they wouldn't mind scanning and sending to me at my email address, would be much appreciated. Also do a lot of people with Spacecruisers go to these meetings?
Many thanks
Andy Richards

- (#10770) Andy Richards, 16 Sep 03 15:38

The table end is connected into the lower curtain rail on Townies, plans won't help much as you don't have one on a Cruiser.
Not seen one Cruiser at any of the 3 Jams I've been to.
I must say that there have been a few Aces that are almost Cruiser look alikes apart from the raised roof and Diesel engine.

- (#10771) Clive, 17 Sep 03 1:59

I initially fitted a table to the bottom curtain rail on the hiace until I found the stress (kids)was begining to pull the lower panel outwards.
Later fitted a shaped piece of wood at this end instead, covered the wood with anti-slip mat (duck brand) and let this side just rest on the interior moulding. Found its steady enough for adults

- (#10772) chris turner, 17 Sep 03 4:49

Cheers Clive.
Just a thought that was all,do you think it's possible to make a suitable table for cruiser?,
being minus the curtain rails, also is it possible to put the same curtain rails as in townace in a Cruiser,or is it a lot of work?
please advise,
Very well done on a terrific site!
Keep up the good work,
reason spacecruiser has'nt been seen at rallies,
been needing a lot of work, nearly done though
Cheers
Andy
- (#10773) Andy Richards, 17 Sep 03 17:51

Hang on a minute Cruiser seats don't rotate so you won't have the room to fit one.

- (#10774) Clive, 18 Sep 03 2:12

.....Friday...01/08/03...
After getting to Woodvale after lunch,I ended up marking out the car club areas before finding which was for our group,so we got plot 27.
I've unhitched the caravan put the flag up to help other Townies to find us..
The forecast for the weekend is good with sun.....
so don't forget the sun-cream !!
Clive arrive in his clean Royal lounge..from Bristol.
I had not had time to wash mine yet, so it has had to wait until tonight to get cleaned up, It's not looking to bad now ,I just hope is does not rain tonight !!
On the way out I saw Ray with his Range rover towing his caravan & right behind his Townie driven by Pam.
So I'll see them Saturday & the rest of you Townies

I'll write again tomorrow..........
Bye 4 now
Paul

- (#9932) Paul, 1 Aug 03 17:22

I'm jealous!!

I wish I woz there!! Anyway, I'll be looking out for photos and maybe some more funny stories from Clive, while I nurse my sciatica and slipped disk :(

Maybe next time - Jo (sob, sob)

- (#9933) Jo, 1 Aug 03 23:01

.....Saturday 02/08/03.....................
A cloudy start to the day.... Clive & son slept in there tent on our stand....they did not get a lot of sleep due to other clubs having little party's around the air field & about 4:30am somebody started to blow a horn..I arrived on site approx 10:30 to find a group of Townies parked up......5 then another one & a little later Ray with his so 7 grey Townies all shiney on show for the public to look at.......
there was intrest from some people, asking info on the Townies etc with hand-outs with the club web site info on they walked away happy & thinking of getting a Townie..
We all had a good talk inbetween walking around the air base looking at the other car clubs, lorries etc..
the trade stands selling things like candles to model train sets, model aircraft, boats,& ice cream 7 hot dogs....

Most of us left around 5:30...with some coming back on Sunday.
By the way......
Ray left his little fridge on & flatened his battery so he had to walk back to get his Range Rover to jump start the Townie....never mind Ray..

Hope to see more of you on Sunday

Regards
Paul

- (#9934) Paul, 2 Aug 03 17:14

What a place, what an event, what more can I say.
A little noisy overnight, cured that by sleeping in the bus last night, still heard the bugle at 5.30!
Just loaded my photos onto PC all the Townie ones are into the sun (don't trust your kids with the camera), but the GT40 came out along with the Cobra, Stingray and Austin A40 etc..
I did mean to get the table diagram but just forgot, any chance of an email?
Sorry I forgot (mixed up your names) can only place Ray and Paul. Hope the R/C car is ok - you know who you are! Nice to meet you and your families, shame about the sunburn.
Didn't show anyone the Dave Mason temp alarm either - just so much to do.
Any pics going anywhere?
619 KMs on one tank (light just came on as we got off the M5), A/C on most the way, on the speed limit most the time, son stayed awake all the way home so it was his choice of music!

...Sunday..03/08/03..........................
Well ....more Townies arrived today, Clive & his son slept in there Townie. We even got a HI-ACE on the stand . The sun came out and burnt me & my kids..
Loads to look at cars bikes vans lorries buses planes boats fire engines Townaces Hi-aces but no liteaces.
there was a lot of public intrest in our Aces, most of my hand-outs have gone.

I'd like to thank all the owners who came to Woodvale, our second year showing there & hope to see more of you next year !(( first weekend in August 2004 ))
I hope you all had a safe trip home, with out any problems.
Hope you found the show worth the £2.00 & tell others about it...

Next year....who's going to mow the grass !!!!!!

keep in touch..

All the best....

Paul & family

- (#9938) Paul, 3 Aug 03 16:34

The grass - a Jaguar stand was next to us. He started to cut the grass for his stand at 4ish until 10 on Friday, trim up on Sat 7.30 til 10 and yet again on Sunday. He had a tent, coffee area, flowers in pots, each car place measured and then marked out with tape to a plan. Plenty to see while cooking the breakfast.
Sorry to have missed the Hi-Ace. May have to make a plaque board now to put my first one on.
Thanks Paul for your organisation. Put me down for next year. Clive
- (#9939) Clive, 4 Aug 03 1:44

Many thanks Paul for all you hard work. Sorry that we could not be there for the Sunday as well and, as you were elswhere on the unbelieivably large site when we left (we did have about 145 miles to go and Grandson had to be home) we did not get a chance to say goodbye.
Anyway, it was a great day and you are to be congratulated for all your hard work and enthusiasm.

- (#9940) John Davis, 4 Aug 03 2:18

Hello to all the great folk I met @ Woodvale, especially Paul who must have woked hard @ getting it all organised,I would like to thank you all for making me wellcome to my first but hopefully not my last jam.My only dissapointment was the non appearence of the" 6 wheel drive Ace",Still once more thank's to everyone who I met.Stuart H.

- (#9941) Stuart Holding, 4 Aug 03 17:04

Thanks Paul and family for organising the club stand. Your work much appreciated and a truly excellent venue. Only sorry I was so late getting there with the Hiace (Sun 2.30) as I would have liked to have met everyone. Look forward to getting there 'on time' next year. Chris

- (#9942) chris turner, 4 Aug 03 17:17

First of all a big thankyou to Paul & family for organising the Woodvale ace jam. sorry I could not join the line up as early as most but I had other commitments on the aircraft flightline (and late night bbqs !). I found it very interesting talking to fellow owners both learning (the hidden aerial clip) and passing on information. Some very nice vehicles were on show and There was quite an interest in them from the public. A good show all round and a scorcher..
Ray

- (#9943) Ray, 4 Aug 03 18:44

So none of you commented on my "6" wheeler... Didn't any of you see it by the Police Helecopter? I'm really upset that I didn't get a mention in "despatches!"

Better luck next year I suppose..........

A downheated Townie owner.....

- (#9944) gazfaz, 10 Aug 03 18:56

See you all soon....

Paul

- (#10040) Paul Morgan, 27 Jul 03 16:21

Very funny, cleaned polished etc.. Tipped down on Saturday, picked son up from end of a very muddy lane, and along with mud trod in on the inside......
May go for "dirtiest at the show" contest, or a power wash.

- (#10041) Clive, 28 Jul 03 1:43

Still got all the wheels to clean :o)

- (#10042) Martin Green, 28 Jul 03 13:38

Searching for tickets as I am now free to show my 92 4wd Litie at woodvale. Can any one help? A no shower or a spare ticket.
In desparation, Craig.
