May seem like a silly question but could anyone tell me whether the 2.2ltr TD engine is interchangeable with the 2.0ltr one? I am replacing my 2.0 (cooked, my own fault, left rad cap off) wholus bolus and wondered whether I could take the opportunity to upgrade the power.

Yes it is, as long as it's from a townie- the Estima uses an electronic pump, and the engine lies on it's side. You may not notice a great deal of increase in power, though...

Thanks David, I learned today from a Townie mechanic that the "engine computer" has to be changed also and the air filter size may be different but he gave the impression that the transplant should be fairly painless. I once had a test drive in a 2.2 and the power difference was noticeable.

The so called "emission computer" controls the glow plugs and EGR. I shouldn't think the calibration would differ much.
The ECU for a 3c-te would be another story...
