Just a thought. I had similar problem with water ingress and steaming up. I removed the complete headlight assembly from the Masterace and found multiple fractures in the rear moulded plastic section of the lamp near to the mounting lugs. I broke away the fractured parts to allow a good cleaning/drying session and then glued together with superglue and when set I sealed every nook and cranny around the lugs with silicone sealer. Total job time was about 2 hours with the aid of a heat gun. This damage was caused by a bird strike just to the top edge of the headlamp. I still have the damaged (crazed) paint finish on the edge of the "bonnet". e mail me for photos of repair if required. Totally cured problem.
