the missus was driving my hi ace when it stuck in drive (auto) and it will not come out any help on this one.

Will it release by pressing the red button at the side of the gear lever?
Some checks:
Has the kick down cable snapped/need adjusting? Remove gear lever console cover and check linkage at front of lever is still connected. Is ATF fluid level ok?
