(Home) Panasonic TV unit

Hello,

I recently bought a Hiace super custom ltd. It has has the Panasonic TV unit that was used in many these vehicles. Unfortunaetly the original radio gear was removed. Can any one tell me whre the tuner unit for this monitor was located. I can't see any cabling for it in the dash, but there is a slave amp unit that uses more connections than the radio. If any one has a tuner head removed that they wish to sell/ dispose of I would be inetrested in obtaining one to experiment with. I have asked Toyota for wiring details and await their reply. If anyone has any information that would help I would apreciate comments.

Hi Steve,

I just hope you are aware that Japan (and the Americas) use a different TV system (NTSC), as opposed to PAL (UK, western Europe and many countries in Africa). Even if you can re-fit the tuner, it won't pick any on-the-air broadcast, but you could use the A/V inputs to playback tapes and DVDs from any NTSC (or multisystem with NTSC) player. Check on ACE Answers (aka) this Ace Answers website under Bodywork and Accessories->John Corfield's Project->Jap TV Tuner and you will get an actual picture of the tuner.

Hello Manecas,

I am aware that the tuner unit uses NTSC. I also know the the CRT is a monitor and not a TV. The possible solutions I Had in mind where conversion of PAL to NTSC or using a separate PAL tuner head to drive the monitor. Hence my interest in wiring.
