noticed my brake fluid needs topping up, what type do i need , are there different types ?.. is it usual for the fluid to go down , checked and cant see any leaks

In theory it'll go fron full to min as the front pads wear out. So it's time to whip the wheels off and check. Alternatively, there could be a leak...
DOT3 or 4, ordinary stuff.
