(Home) Hard starting sorted

I had a problem with hard starting when cold. I have now sorted out this problem. I found that power was going to the glowplugs all the time and was'nt switching off when the glow light on the dash went out. I Checked all relays and the water temp switch. All seemed to be working. When i checked the pre-heating timer (Useing the RM025E Manual) I found that it was faulty. Got 4 new glowplugs and another Pre-heating timer (not original), Refitted everything, Checked for voltage from glowplugs (When glow dash light is on) and all is working as it should be. The new timer that i got is a afterglow timer. Not sure what that means but i think (due to the voltage test i did) the timer does not send 12v to the glowplugs straight away. Another words the glowplugs warm up gradualy and then turns off. The only downside is that when very cold in the mornings i would have to turn the key to the ON position about 3x for the Cylinder to heat up so i can start it. Another thing that i have noticed is that i no longer suffer from the "Starter will not turn" Syndrome. Just a thought... maybe the glowplugs rob the starter of volts for a few second.
