Hi,

The turbo is blowing on my 2l diesel 4 wd Liteace. The head is fine but I cannot find the gaskets. Does anyone know the part number?

The two gaskets, ie, mounting the turbo to the exhaust system are:- 17278 (Turbo to Ex manifold) 17279(Turbo to outlet elbow) There is also a complete turbo gasket kit, p/No 04175-64023. These relate to the 2C-T engine

If I could add that the manifold to head gasket is same for all 1C and 2C engines, and the solid metal manifold-to-turbo gasket can often be reused if you anneal it. (I'd also bell it out around the centre hole slightly, gives it something to compress)

Thanks for that. I now know that I want parts 17279 and 17278 or the complete kit.

Next question - does anyone know where they could be sourced and approximate prices. The local Toyota dealer gave me the usual rubbish about 'it taking 4 months to get them from Japan'.

local motor factors? all three are used in other vehicles. Any -C engine for the head to manifold, any CT12 turbo'd engine for the turbo- to - manifold, and the downpipe gasket is about a 2" ring, also common to other Toyotas. The outlet elbow (wastegate housing) shouldn't be needed, it's never disturbed.

Well as usual my local factors said the only chance was a Toyota Main Dealer. The 2 parts are not cross referenced to any other gaskets by other manufacturers.

Does anyone know any generic part numbers for these 2 gaskets?

Well, I don't, but generally the easiest way to deal with these things is to take the gaskets in for comparison. The downpipe "O" ring is a standard exhaust fitting part, and the manifold-to- head gasket is common to all C- engines. Your factor may only keep complete top-end sets in stock, but most gasket suppliers do the individual items too. I've just noticed that the numbers John psted are incomplete- the gaskets you need are
17278-64030 turbo to manifold
90917-06045 downpipe
17173-64050 manifold to head
17279-11010 wastegate elbow

I recently bought Exhaust Manifold gaskets from U-save Automotive www.usaveauto.co.uk. I have found they can get just about any parts. They got the gaskets for £35 in 4 days!
