(Home) 2C-T engine chage

Wondering if someome can help?
I have just changed engines in a 1988 Master Ace as the existing one was cooked when I got it!
Replacement is Jap-import with 73000Kls but is out of an auto so has an EGR valve etc where-as the existing
was connected to a 5 speed manual.
Some of the vacuum pipes and electrical connections are
a little different so haven't fully sussed out what goes where?
Every thing else seems OK as dash lights work.glow-plugs heat up and the idle-up works.
The motor starts ok but it doesn't respond to throttle?
Max revs=1500!
Question is,is it one of vacuum, electrical fittings
or is it the fuel pump?
has anyone else had this sort of problem?
Any response would be appreciated,
Cheers,Trev.

Even with the boost controls disconnected, the motor should try to rev out with no load. Ensure that the EGR system is disconnected- or even better, remove it and block the ports in the manifolds off. Has the diesel pump been swapped or even removed? Are injection and cam timing correct? Is the throttle cable adjusted correctly?
Oh, and are you letting it warm for a while before checking this...
FYI, the boost hose from the manifold (under the aircleaner hose, sortof) goes to the top of the pump, and the pressure switches in front of the aircleaner case.

Thanks David,
We took the EGR valve and associated bits off and by following a photo and "key"page from Ace Answers, were able to trace what goes where!
Made a couple of blanks for the ports on manifolds and
started it up,All seems well engine revved out.
It is idling a little fast at 1000rpm but wasn't sure
what it should be until I checked an earlier thread on this forum that quotes 750-850rpm!Trust this is right?

Thanks also for puting John Corfield in touch re
manual, which is on it's way to me!

Cheers,Trev S.

Cold idle will be around the 950 mark, idle-up likewise. Hot idle (throttle lever against the idle screw) is 750-850, yes.
