(Home) Head gasket/aircon

Hello all 2ct 1993 townace 2wd auto

been o/heating recently and clouds of steam/smoke on start up on a warm engine. Suspected the worst( head gasket) so this morning got to grips with the strip down and found no4 cylinder full of water, but on inspection of the head found deep pitting on that cyl, about 1mm deep( looks too deep for re-surfacing) so it looks like a replacement head as well as gasket, which brings me to the aircon problem, once the head has been done I plan to do away with viscous fan and fit electric, but behind the rad is the aircon cooling rad, will the aircon not work properly without the viscous fan not pulling air through constantly. there is a small horizontal aircon rad at the front with electric fan, would this be sufficient to keep the refrigerant cool, any advice appreciated.

there's always a bit of ram flow throught the main rad, and the fan on the horizontal condenser should cut in to assist it if necessary, yes.
