What is the cheapest way to replace a turbo on a townace? I have been quoted varying prices from £400+. I was hoping somebody would know of a good place to get a replacement or have it reconditioned.
Thanks

A rebuild kit will cost £130 from TurboTechnics, but unless one is extremely careful and fortunate, the result will be dubious compared to a pro rebuild. What's wrong with yours?
You can carefully mark the relationship between the two impellers, strip, and rebuild with a new seal and bearing kit, yes. A couple of hours, and no special tools other than a big pair of visegrips for the shaft nut and a big set of circlip pliers.
But what if you find wear on the shaft or housing, or a cracked wastegate seat? Only the pro's can sort that out, and it's all included in the price of a rebuild. (they seem to start at £295 + vat IIRC)
That's £200 for labour and warranty, including balancing to 150k rpm.
Or you could by secondhand for £150 or so...
