(Home) Heater matrices

got a very slight water leak, which doesn't seem to leak at the same rate?!
anybody know, (and i'm David M will!), where the heater matrices are?
am i correct in that as well as directing airflow when the lever is moved to "hot", it also opens a valve allowing water through?
this could explain my "intermittent" leak as heaters are not always on, ( i just make the kids wear an extra coat!!! ).
thanks.

Eddie,
The CD shows a valve in the heater water line, part number 87240. As the heater matrix is part Number 87107, this numbering does indicate, I think, that the two items are, possibly, part of a sub assembly. Unfortunately, from the illustration, I can't quite see how the valve operates but, I think that it might have a solenoid (as against a manual cable). I hope someone else can be a bit more precise.

valve's under the front floor, inline with the hose to the matrix. front matrix behind dash, rear in box behind r/h front wheel
no valve on the rear.
