I have an E reg auto Masterace Surf (import) and every now and then the engine cuts out. After a few seconds the power comes back. Can happen several times in one local run. Any suggestions?

As David says, we need to know if it's petrol or diesel, also what else happens during this time?, do all the gauges drop down? do any lights come on on the dash? If at night, do the head/side lights go off? more info & we may be able to help diagnose your problem.

My Masterace is petrol. When the engine dies, its usually as I pull out of a junction. No gauges drop, no lights go out and no lights come on on the dashboard. Its simply no throttle response to give me power to pull away. Just recently however the battery and water lights flicker on if I drive over a bump.

Sounds like fuel starvation. Check fuel filters and injectors. Also check tuning, could be poor fuel/mix or timing problem.

When you say the power comes back, I assume the engine doesn't stall just that there's no power when you kick the accelerator?

That's right, it doesn't stall and I've found that as the power goes, if I quickly hit the accelerator, the power will come back.
