(Home) Hot/coolbox

Can't seem to fine info on this so excuse me if posting in the wrong place.
Does anyone know if there is a reason why my hot/cool box switches operate the relays but do not stay latched on. Pressing any switch operates the relevant control but it clicks off when the button released, wondered if there was a need for say the engine to be running or something like that before the relays will stay in. Have tried it with the engine running before you ask.

the switches are interlocked mechanically, I'd think- just like the channel buttons on old TVs. Ther'll be a slide bar linking them all together, it's probably jammed with years of fluff etc. Best to pull the switches out to investigate.

thanks for that dave, thought the switches were just controls for the relay, the little blighter was filthy and the retrun 'spring' on the latching mechanism was tired, all sorted now.

Dave, Not really an option, it would be a big job. You would have to find a working one from a scrappy, or new if available, in the first place, then get it plumbed in to the A/C system and electrics etc..

Dave,
I have a cool/hotbox and I find it a lovely bit of luxury during the summer months. However to install one from scratch, as Clive says, would be a big and dificult job. A colleague has fitted a small fridge into his MPV (not Townace). They are on sale at the larger Tesco stores, and, probably, other places as well,at less than £50. They work off mains or 12 volt and the dimensions would, I think, allow it to be sited quite comfortably behind the rear seats on a Townace.
