(Home) Key central locking

Having recently bought a 94 turbo diesel royal lounge, I replaced a battery in the door key hoping to use the central locking. Didn't work - does the key need to be recoded with the new battery? Love the Townie - are other any other Aussie owners out there? Where did you find the best insurance deal?

Carole
I,m not aware of any vehicle blips that need recoding when new batteries are fitted. Are you sure the battery is in the right way around? Are you sure the metal srrips in the remote are placed correctly? Normally one touching the battery and one hovering over it to contact when the button is pressed. If its one of these remotes with a side LED? Is it illuminating to show the units working. It thats all OK it could be your receiving unit.
These blips can pack in but its unusual.
Hope this helps.

I have a 92 royal lounge. I discovered quite by accident that on the drivers side there is a grill it looks like a speaker grill to the bottom of this is a small push switch which has jap writing on it. I discovered that when pressed in the central locking via remote key did not operate. Upon switching back in the central locking worked fine. Perhaps a switch to disable central locking if you are worried about someone coming along with a remote key to see if they can unlock other vehicles ????? Hope this helps.

G'Day from WA.

I am in Perth with a 1990 MasterAce Surf (4x4).

As mine is not a Royal Lounge it misses out on some of the speccy bits, so I can't help on the c/locking.

There seems to be quite a few Aces in Perth, but no clubs or groups.

A few Aussies frequent this site, so maybe a post titled for Aussies would get more reaction?

As to Insurance, I am with NCUIS (I think it is the National Credit Union Insurance Service or something like that.) Not necessarily the best price, but close. I have used them for a long time because they are part of the Credit Union.
When it came to the Ace, they didn't baulk. Called it a Tarago, top spec, and varied it to turbo diesel.

I have heard that RAC can be good, but it seems that you have to catch them on a good day.

Dave.
