(Home) Cruise control

Just fitted Cruise control to my 2L Townace, fantastic!
Did they ever have it factory fitted?

What was involved in setting up cruise control ???? Was it easy ???? Would be very interested to learn more. Thanks.

Absolute doddle, except for trying to locate the brake light switch cables, not a lot of room under the steering column.
Bought the kit for £169 GBP and fitted in a day.
Needs magnets fitted to prop to give speed signal and the brake light circuit connection to stop cruise when braking.
System uses engine vacuum to operate throttle, very smooth in operation, although being critical the only fault I've found is when cruise is set and climbing hills from low speed tends to change down more than I would.
Once speed is set, if you brake cruise stops, but on reaching 20mph you can restart cruise and it takes you back to the last setting, very useful with all the speed cameras around here.

I miss my cruise control I had on my Scorpio, was this a kit you bought ? where from? was this for petrol or diesel or both, give us a run down on fitting. Until you've had cruise you never miss it,( did'nt know you needed it )god I wish I still had it

OK you asked.
Cruise was a kit purchased at the Boat & Leisure show in Birmingham. made by http://www.waeco.co.uk who I think are distibutors only.
It is a multi purpose kit for all engines and comes with a dash mounted control, a vacuum throttle operator, a box of electronics and nearly enough cable. The only additional part required is the speed sensor which is a set of magnets tie rapped to the prop with a receiver which neatly enough bolts to a bracket which fits nicely to a pre drilled hole on the Townace. Fitting is simple I mounted the throttle operator in the space behind the drivers seat, by the turbo, a cable then links to the throttle, loads of diff fittings supplied. The Dash mounted control fits neatly on top by the steering wheel and the electronics on passenger side behind the coolbox. The cost was £169 plus £11 for the speed sensor.I will try and set some photos of the installation up on my website later and post the link here. The hardest part of fitting was connecting to the brake light circuit by the brake pedal, no room to move. But now fitted and working its ggggrrreeeeaaaattttt.
