(Home) Townace hot/cold box

Hello everybody, great site. I have just bought a brilliant 1992 Townace super extra (new shape) which is in superb condition and a real joy to drive. However despite the cast-iron assurance that the van would be 100% working order from honest john the dealer, there are a couple of problems to sort. First the air-con doesn't work but I see there are lots of tips about this on the web site already. My question relates to the non-operational hot/cold box. There is power going into the main loom but none to the switches and lights on top. A cursory examination showed how horribly complex it all is. Does anyone has any tips on how to get it working?

Russell,
Congrats on a great choice of transport.
There was a thread on your very subject, it'll be on AceAnswers. I think it was resolved by removing the hot box switch and cleaning all the contacts.
Have a rummage through the AC part.

If the A/C doesn't work then the hot/cold box won't either, they both use the air con refrigerant circulating to operate. You will need to get an air con service guy in to check for leaks, do a conversion from R12 to R134a gas & refill with the correct weight of gas. I have written extensively on the subject of the a/c on Townies & these threads will be shown in Ace Answers. HTH Rob.
