I am on my second Townie and after a lot of miles have never had overheating. But the current Masterace climate control is driving me potty. The lump in the passenger well is not operating the cables, Where is the control for this?

This is in response to Dick Dykes.

Harrington Auto's are first class. They knew what they were talking about and were very reasonable considering the following. WKB Toyota based in Waterlooville do not carry out any work on Townace's. Toyota in Chichester carry out works but charge you based on time actually spent working on the vehicle rather than a book time (apparently NO book times are available for Townace's).

It looks a bit daunting when you first turn up but be assured that this guy knows what he is doing. Harrington Autos charged me £550 for the following work. It worked out about £300 for parts and £250 for labour. He can quote you rough prices without VAT and he isn't far wrong.

Timing Belt removed and new installed.
Front Discs and Pads
Oil & Air Filter Change
Anti Freeze Change
Rear Brakes Checked
Hand Brake adjusted
General check over the vehicle.

You might think its a bit expensive but the Toyota garage in Chichester was going to charge me £800 just to do the timing belt.

Russell,

I don't think that this was expensive, far from it.
I think you got a good deal there. I am retired and have the opportunity to spend as long as I like on maintaining my Masterace but, for someone who is running a business, with all the costs which that involves, those charges, for that amount of work on a complicated vehicle, are very reasonable indeed. In my opinion he deserves recognition and support because garages who are competent with our type of vehicle, seem very few and far between.
