(Home) Radiator drain plug

Hi all,

I have a problem with the drain plug on the vertical radiator. The O’ring is flattened and does not seal properly. I have tightened it up as far as I dare with an adjustable spanner, as a temporary fix. This has stopped the drip, but it remains wet. Does any body know the actual size of the O’ring? or is the plug available from Toyota?

Happy Easter to you all

the "o" ring is a seperate part from toyota. i bought a couple and have a few spares somewhere if you want one (if i can find'em...)

p/no is 16418-24200

Thanks for your very kind offer Dave, if I have no luck with my local Toyota dealer, and you can find them, I would be very interested.

Dave, did you get sorted? I tripped over my spares during a tidy-up...

Hi Dave

Yes thank you, I have sorted it. my choice was 85p each plus vat and postage from Toyota, or two standard O-rings, I had at work. So thanks again for your kind offer, keep hold of them for now, some one else may have a greater need.
Any more thoughts on the thermostat plate? I would value your opinion here, as this may be the key stone to understanding the cooling system.

Hi,
I have a 1990 2.4 t/d Hiace two wheel drive auto the drain plug on the rad has a slight leak. is there just an 'O' ring as a seal and if so does any one have the size as i have access to any size of 'o' ring for free and more importantly no waiting time involved like if I have to order one from toyota.

Yes theres a small square sectioned O-ring, but I don't have the part number I'm afraid. I will try to find it for you.

Dave, it's only square sectioned once worn...
I have two in front of me. Roughly 1.9mm section by 10.5mm OD, p/no 16418-24200.
I could pop one in an envelope for you if your source doesn't include that size...

That would make sense david, thanks. I could only get 1.6mm section myself, so I squeezed two on, and it hasn’t leaked a drop since.
