Manual for my 1984 van shows them to be located in a horizontal box with a flip-lid. Cannot find them anywhere? Any help locating them will be much appreciated.

several times recently i smelled a burning rubber/over heating smell emanating from the front end of the vehicle. i have an 84 van (live in canada) and not sure if we're talking about the same kind of thing or not? anyhow, yesterday got in the van, turned the key and nothing? no lights, wipers, indicators. the only sign of life was when i clicked the lights into high beam a buzzing sound came from under the dash area from the fuse box. is there a main switch somewhere that i can check? replace etc. obviously i need a owners manual, finally located a source, but not soon enough. help!?

Not sure how much is swapped over on the LHD vehicles. On the RHD they are to be found by sliding the driver's seat forward and lifting the inner inspection hatch. Bend down and they can be seen fastened near the engine bulkhead.
