I have a 2ct fitted into my old '71 Combi. I had to overhaul the head after a overheating caused by a wrong haed gasket. After putting everything back, the engin does not start. I have checked the timing marks on crank and cam shaft but do not see marks on the diesel pump pulley. Is there any marks or how do I set the pump for correct injector timing? I also checked for fuel at injectors, ok, glowplugs also seem ok.
Also is there any way of connecting a rev counter on the 2ct?

there is a mark on the pump pulley, yes. It's a dot/ dimple, and lines up with a notch on the housing at the 3-o'clock position. Re rev counter, an inductive sensor can be fitted to the face of the injection pump nearest the block. If there's two wires coming out of a hex- head, you've got it already!

thanks david, I accidentaly posted another message today regarding same problem, could not find this message. I quess I must take the alluminium housing off to see the notch on housing? Re the rev counter, the sensor is fitted, thanx

Yup, alloy housing must come off. You'll see the notch then. Re. timing, if the pump hasn't been moved then lining the marks up will suffice, but if the pump has been loosened off then you'll need a dial gauge and adaptor as used for Bosch injection pumps, plunger movement should be 0.78mm @ TDC.

Martin,
From the engine manual,I have scanned the timing illustration and forwarded it to others on this thread but, have not had any acknowledgement. If you wanted this illustration, and the head torque/tightening sequence, and you have not got access to the engine manual RMO25E, I could easily scan and forward both illustrations. If I can help, please let me know.
