(Home) Wing mirror retract button

my 'new 'shape 92 townie has a button on the wing mirror control panel marked retract, when pushed it does not pull the mirror in,however if the mirror is manualy folded in then the retract button will operate the mirror motor and swing it out to its position.
is this the correct method of operation? or should the retract button pull the mirror in and out.
thanks,
phil.

I have a townie exactly the same as yours. The correct method of operation is for the mirrors to go in or out with the push of the button. This feature is handy if you are driving into a narrow space and need to close mirrors so as you dont knock them. As to the cause of the problem i am sorry but cant help you with that.

I have a similar problem to you Phill although I have not tried to manually close them as there is some resistance and I don't want to force it. At my last service my mechanic established that the switch was working and concluded that it must be the motor but he couldn't tell me where the motor is. Anyone got any ideas?

I will try and close my mirrors manually this evening and let you know how it goes.

Regards
Carl
