(Home) Idle smoke

Hello from New Zealand.
I have a 2C Non Turbo Liteace. When starting from cold it gives a small cloud of blue smoke which clears once on the move. If it is left to idle for more than a few minutes when cold it develops a lot of blue smoke but clears once again when driven. When engine is at normal temperature it runs sweet with no sign of oil smoke even when left idling for 5 minutes.
I suspect it could be valve seals but cant decide. It has done 185000 kms. Has anyone had similar problems or any ideas? Thanks, Paul W.

Umm, it would help if I could read (sigh)... Valve stem oilseals are a possibility, but do bear in mind there's no vacuum in the inlet of a diesel to draw the oil in as per a gasser. I'd wonder whether rings would be more likely- esp as when cold the extra fuelling and advance mean that there's more chance of neat fuel washing the bore walls. I'd do a compression test, and ensure that the injection pump is set correctly (fuel and timing)
You could also try putting a does of KrauseBond or similar additive in...
