(Home) Dash board warning lights

Hi,
Thanks for the best site on the web!.
Problem, all the warning lights on the dash remain on, no apparent problems with my baby. Must confess to playing with the radio harness before any problems. ??? what have I done, any suggestions.(4x4 Masterace surf). I am a bit nervous driving without the warning lights working, cannot find any solutions on the site.
regards
Ian Bond

oil, charge, brake lights on? Toyota use that to indicate a charging failure. If the battery is charging OK, then the output fromm the alt/ reg mustn't be getting up to the dash. The reg on some models is near the radio... You're looking for a wire going to the dash which goes +ve after the engine starts, probably yellow or yellow/ white.
Or the reg. is duff, even tho the battery is charging...

Hello Ian,

I have looked through the Ace Answers, as the opening paragraph of the BoK suggests, and come up with an exactly the same problem that Mr Miller answered answered Last June.

I will echo his reply, try checking the 'CHARGE' fuse which you will find in a small plastic box below the centre of the dash. If this is the problem then your battery will be going flat.

When the previous person looked into the problem they found some wires under the dashboard had melted together so the fact you have been "playing with the radio harness" may well be the cause.

Dave Miller,+ Mark

0n my G reg. auto GL Toyota Spacecruiser I had no apparent problem with the vehicle but the water, charge and oil warnings were always on. After a oil and filter change,a check on the water system and metering the charge rate, which was shown to be working well, the head scratching began.I checked the charge fuse sugested by Mark but in this case it was not the answer. The problem was the positive battery connection. There is a green wire in a black shroud which had corroded and broken contact. reconnected and all was fine.
