Dave,
It is alive, one can of holts easy start later, must be the same as the Diesel astras, if you have the head off them they will not start, towing is usually the preferred method. best £2.99 i've spent this week

strange one that, Paul. Aint seen it before on these. A thorough bleeding and they normally get up and go OK.

Good news tho.

Do NOT under any circumstances get into a habit of using Easy Start, Paul. It puts sensitive head components under a lot of stress and will certainly kill your engine if used regularly.

Don't believe me? You should have seen the inside of the LandRover engine in my old taxi, whose previous owner was an Easy Start addict. Five head cracks, all the pre-combustion chambers blown out, what a mess.

wot he says... If anyone NEEDS to use EasyStart, don't use the glowplugs- the vapour is too volatile and will preignite in a spectacular fashion...

Starts on the button every time now, I did disconnect the glow plugs and have consigned the remains of the can to the bottom of the shed. While I've got your attention, Where is the oil pressure switch. I've just changed oil and filter, ran the engine, recheked levels now the oil light comes on intermittently. These vehicles certainly have character!! Many thanks to all for your invaluable help

Sort of under the alt, in behind the p/s pump. Sure it's the pressure light? There's a float switch as well for the orange light...

it is the oil can light with the wavy line underneath on the far right of the aptly named idiot/warning light cluster, oh for an english manual!!

Orange is level, red is pressure...
