(Home) Converting camper model to pickup

I have a 1980 Toyota camper. I'd like to convert it to a pickup. Is this possible? To remove the area behind the cab and put a pickup bed on it?

what type of camper is it? What is it based on?

Anything is possible - you may or may not need to strengthen some areas (lateral support) etc. - re-registering it with DVLA for its new use will be no problem but before you start do ring a few insurance companies first - its likely you will need an engineers report before they will insure (check cost of insurance and report before starting).
I know some companies (few) will insure without an engineers report if you are converting a van to a camper - but the other way round?
Do plenty research so you know what the final cost will be (probably cheaper to sell the camper and buy a pickup)
Good luck

Certainly possible if you are very careful with the budget - go for it
Check out the site below and visit their forum - you will need to set aside a few full evenings to trawl through their old pages also.
Its a good site and you should learn quite alot + gather plenty of links
