(Home) Mason coolant temperature gauge alarm setting

What setting have you got have set mine to 4 at the moment. also how did you temp gauge read after fitting, mine reads at the 13th or 14th dot now.it used to stay ta the 9th dot on the gauge. i have acsess to a lazer thermometor so will be testing temps against gauge readings. let me know you experiances .i will post all my data. (Dave will let you know how i get on, looks to be working well at the moment) cheers Russell.

Mine sits at around 11 or twelve 92-93oC and sets of the alarm, with the dial at 4, at 104. this is just before the red sector, so by the time it's in the red siren is on full.
Temp measurements made by BAe engineers at BAe Filton,
had me driving flat out down a few taxiways with the engine cover up and a man inside, with a dead expensive thermal measure (laser?). The expected end of range of the guage would be roughly 110, could not get it to this temp to confirm, as the fan locks in just after the alarm goes off. If you driven with the cover up and the fan goes off you know it shifts some air
View of the aero technicians was that it was a good piece of kit, praise indeed Mr Mason!

Indeed, much praise and honor to Mr. Mason for such a wonderful "piece of minder". Just done the installation (with a trusted mechanic friend) and it's a straight clean job. Upon much testing (high speed with everything on, i.e A/C, H/C box, stereo, lights, etc) dial rests slightly above 4 and gauge on 13-14 dot. One thing I used to overlook was to sudden short stop after a long run (e.g to refuel), oh boy, let it cool down for while, before you switch that engine off! And let me rephrase what others have said better, c'mon guys, get one and fast.

Thanks Mr Mason, though the gauge reads higher than the "normal" my blood pressure has certainly lowered :>)

congratulations dave on a straightforward procedure, wonderful how confident you become when the fitting is explained in such detail, one thing though, you forgot to remind us to wash the hands again, after refitting the speedo cable.

the results, my temp gauge is now at 12.45,veiwing the gauge as 10-2, the alarm comes in at position 2.7 on the scale. in view of my interior colour scheme i might paint the box, everyone should have one

Stuck mine on the air vent duct that is behind the facia just below right knee level. Nice flat area and the device is visable if you get out and look.
While testing/setting up, I had it in the large nik nak tray under the cigar lighter.

Unfortunatley my installation was not as straight forward as everyone elses as I have a new shape 92 townie and the guages are a bit different. This caused some wierd behaviour with Dave's (Mr Mason) gadget and my temp gauge. ( quite frightening to see the needle shoot off the end of the scale).
HOWEVER the support fom Dave was fantastic and over a few weeks we tested some modifications and I now have a reliable and working system.
Dave must have put quiet a few hours work into the modifications ( research and testing and email and snail mail contact).
I would like to thank Dave publicly For his help and patience with my problem
Thanks Dave
BTW my Alarm sits neatly alongside my Turbo Timer just under the dash.
