(Home) Hiace super custom 3l manual

Hello.
I have tracked down a company who sell an engine manual for the 2L and 3L engine the are www.milner.co.uk. I have a my second hiace a 1991 2.8 4x4 and I have done quite a few jobs on it, changing headlight bulbs now takes about 3 minutes. If you would like to know how mail me. I have the problem of high tick over when hot at the moment. Which I am trying to solve any pointers would be welcome.

Alan - is this the Toyota RM 123E manual (see Toyota Hiace owners posting further down) or is it a Hiace specific one?
Re
high tickover when hot. - is it consistantly high? has it always been high? what rpm? is it predicdable? Anything interfering/jamming in the mechanisms? Could try WD 40 on linkages etc.
Is the air con idle up functioning OK?

The toyota manual gives clues on setting things up - but is easy enough to readjust tickover if required. Screws for hot (nearest pump) and cold (furthest from pump) tickover on side of pump (follow the linkage)- but these need to be balanced to the operation of the thermo valve (below) also - so refer to manual if going to adjust more than a little
You have the same model bus as myself - great things

Alan - checked the Millers site but it just seems to sell registration plates - is it the right link or have I missed something?

Hello HIACE fans, does'e anybody know what fits on the bracket behind the passenger side rear wheel. Mine seems to have dissapeared. Its next to the or looks like the overflow pipe from the deisel/petrol tank. Its a great site this.Plus has anybody got a spare hubcap with toyota on it, mine seems to have dropped of. But what a van, superb for fishing, camping, i could go on and on. right im'e off. BOB

BOB - only brackets I can see there (underneath) on mine are the spare wheel carrier, a metal plate protecting the filler tube and what I 'assume' to be a tie down bracket - though there appears a more substantial one at the other side. If you are talking about the black plastic 3" banjo shaped thing with wires coming out - then please let me know when you find out, as I havent a clue

Hello chris
re
the banjo shaped thingie, it looks like on mine as though, at sometime ther's been some kind of container. There has been some wiring, and connections, directly above it, with two little clips to clip something on. Yes i agree, we should have a separate web page, so we can differeniate between the men and the boys.

Has anybody had any experience of towbars and towing
is an oil cooler necessary and what make of towbar is best

John, check posting about 1/2 way down the main page dated 16/06/03 'Hiace Wagon owners'
I know at least one person who has posted there has gone down that route with extra cooler and towbar.
I would have thought that 'in theory' if the cooling system etc.is good then things should look after themself but best recieving advice from someone who has done what you are considering. Guess things depend on what weight you would be carrying and towing in total.
