(Home) Toyota emina Estima

I own a Toyota Emina Estima (imported)1994 on an L. I have problems with overheating on long runs. A local garage found the problem to be a faulty thermostat and has removed it, but, has not replaced it with another. I have been driving the Emina since and have not had any problems. Now I need to do a long run a.s.a.p. Should I worry at all? or do I need to take any precautions? please! please! can anyone help me?!

P.S Iknow this site is setup for Townace's specifically but is the only one remotely related to the Emina Estima.

Yes worry, get one fitted.
No stat will mean full flow to the rad. Not enough time for heat transfer and may/will lead to overheating.
Very bad practice for a garage not to fit one - suggest you use another.

Can anyone help? I have the engine managment light coming on my diesel emina. The engine note changes, gets noisy, and won't pull. Then the light may go out but around 75mph it holds back almost misfires. Any ideas?

If the UK Emina site is still up, there's a link to some diagnostic info on the 3CT-E. The actual site was www.madmechanic.co.uk IIRC. If not, I've some info on the 1KZTE engine which has the same injection system.

Check for loose hoses, wires etc, and try to pull codes out of the ECU, take it from there.( turn on ign, link pins TE1 and E1 in the diagnostic socket, read flash codes off warning light in speedo)
