(Home) Poor headlights

The dipped headlights on my 1992 Townie don't seem very bright.
The full beam is OK, but is there anything I can do to uprate the dipped beam?

Are they adjusted correctly? Wiring OK- you're getting 12V to the lamp? If so, try a set of the Xenon filled +30% type lamps or the Philips Vision Plus.

But don't buy the trendy blue- tinted bulbs, they're crap...

I agree with David. the philips are one of the best blues i have seen.
Really bright.

I have a Royal Lounge and my dipped beam is so bad that on a dark country road at night I have trouble seeing where I am going and before you lads say why not upgrade to stronger bulbs the answer is that I have and still they are as much use as a lighted match. Main beam is great, can see for miles.I am now thinking about fitting illegal high wattage bulbs but will this show up on the MOT or cause electrical problems.

Same advice applies. Are you getting the full 12v to the lamp? Is the problem intesnity or distance before cut-off? Try polishing the front lens, they're plastic on many models and get a bit opaque through the years of sand- blasting. T-Cut or Jif...

Don't put high powered bulbs in, something WILL melt, be it switch, wiring, or lamp unit!
