Hi. Just discovered this site. Lots of fun! In the past couple of weeks an engine warning comes up when hot when either going for an overtake or climbing long fast hills. Also performance when cold is as it ever was but has really fallen off when warm. Associated problem is that it is really reluctant to kick down through the gearbox when you do put your foot down. It was serviced yesterday and the problem appeared to have gone away (good performance and kick down was back) but my wife (who drives it most of the time) says that the problem is back but higher up the rev range. Any ideas or does anyone know where I can get the engine management checked out for the root of the problem. I live in Brighton (South Coast).

Dunno where you should go, but I'll bet that the error is boost- pressure related- probably excessive, although perhaps insufficient. Check all vacuum hoses esp the wastegate hose on the turbo. Any black smoke?

Thanks, I'll take a look. As far as I am aware there is no more black smoke than usual (it has never been the cleanest burning engine).
