(Home) Oil light

noticed oil light does not come on on lamp test when key first turned. on starting engine light conmes on for abouta second or so until pump is up to pressure, so switch must be working. any ideas?
also, anybody fitted a pressure gauge , is it easy to fit new sender and retain switch, haven't looked to see how much room there is!
thanks

I'd guess that's either a dash or regulator issue- the warning lamps are tested by taking the sender side of them to ground via a diode and the no- charge light circuit...

Pressure gauge? The sender is buried under the p/s pump, not too much room. You might get a "T" piece in there for both senders or if you can live with a slight missmatch in gauge sender, there are senders available that have both gauge AND warning outputs...
Standard switch is 1/8" BSP, BTW.
Lucas refs for combined sensors (eg) SOB714 or 715- M14 thread, SOB825- M18 thread. Gauge supplier should be able to adapt between these threads
