(Home) Front brake calliper

Hi just want to tahnk everyone for there help re
my brakes. Discovered the problem was my front caliper and after several phone calls a local motor factors is going to recondition it for me. Hubby is going to spend the 3 days we are off the road giving the car a good service is there any places he should really be checking???

Usual stuff as for any vehicle Hazel - filters, oil, brake pads and shoes. Then worth taking the floor pan out and checking the state of the belts and tension. Look for any oil, fuel or coolant leaks. Changing the coolant would be a good idea and check all hoses. If really ambitious you might also get him to check the diff fluid level, grease the front upper balljoints (if 4WD) and replace the brake and gearbox fluids.

That should keep him out of mischief for a few days.

Meanwhile you could give the interior a good clean out (sorry if that sounds sexist but I'm assuming you want to get stuck in too?)

Not sexist at all, but i will leave giving the indside a good clean to the kids I think while i give the house a good going over :)

Hi I am Hazels hubby. No doubt I will be kept totally out of mischief and also get piled high with other diy jobs that I havent been able to get round to. Thanks for the list of things and am now going to work my way through them.

Cheers All.

(BTW Partco couldn't help with a new Caliper but said they would look but would cost about £250). Fortunately New Forest Motor Factors (Their tel Number 01202 691111) were brill and they are recoditioning our old one for the pricely sum of £60. We are still gonna persue the new one just to find out how much they are and have left our numbers at several places.
