Lisa, what area do you live in? Would you fit it yourself or need it fitted?

Stewart

I live in Oxfordshire and could fit it myself - Do you know of somewhere I can get one??

Thanks for coming back to me.

Hi all. I have intended to change my original radio/cassette unit with a better unit for some time now but I am unsure as to how to remove the old unit. I have a 1989 Royal Lounge. How do I remove the black facia panel that fits around the radio and heater controls? It looks like it pulls of but I don't want to force it incase I break it. Please help.

Sorry Lisa, can't help you on that one...I'm Peterborough area, Cambs. In my home town we have a local ICE shop that's been there for years; though I have never been in there. I presume they must be ok else they would have folded. I also presume they do mail order cus we aint a very big town!

Mine's a 'G' reg. I could take it in and see what they recommend (mine still has the original Toyota radio/cassette)because I'd be interested too on the cost of a decent system.

Do you have any sort of spec you're after? Do you want radio/cd or radio/cd/cassette or no cd? Do you want just the four speakers or subwoofer as well? And most importantly of all, what is your budget?

Liz
the facia is removed by removing the two screws under the instrument panel and that then pulls out quite easily which then leaves the black facia mounting screws visible. remove them and a firm pull of the black panel should release it, revealing the radio mounting screws

Hi Stewart, Would be grateful if you could give me ICE tel no so I could call them to find out if they can supply.

We are looking for a good quality cd/radio/tape system - about £200 - £250.

I don't know about the woofers, speakers and stuff as that is a strictly male area!

But thanks for the information.

- (#10253) Lisa, 20 Aug 03 3:28

Ha, well in my male capacity experience has shown me that good quality speakers can make a basic audio unit sound very good indeed and conversely poor quality speakers WILL make a top notch unit sound very crappy indeed.....So, to avoid disappointment, please bear that in mind when you do finally choose a system.

As requested madam, I will find out the numbers of a couple of ICE suppliers for you....watch this space!
