When you turn the heater fan on the idle up switch should speed up the engine to around 1000 revs; this is so that it won't labour the engine too much when you have the air conditioning on etc.

Don't know about the reverse mirror, but I am sure there are posts on this site somewhere that will tell you...Still not read it all myself yet!

Idle up switch just increases the idle speed. I think some are a manual switch and others auto. Mine is auto and only kicks in when the air con is put on.
If you lift the engine cover, look at the throttle cable cam and engage the idle up you will get an idea how it functions.

The pipe suppling water to the front window washers came off during the winter. Is there an easy way to re attach without removing the whole dash
