Just back from a touring holiday in and around Austria.
No problems with the van at all, just a small top up of oil after 5,000 Kms. Thanks to Dave Mason and his temp alarm I could concentrate on the hair pin bends and 13% gentle slopes rather than the temp gauge. The alarm went of a lot, co-pilot turned heater on full (over 40oC and you have the heater on?), I kept 2nd gear engaged and up it went, fully loaded with camping gear. Not the fastest but no where near the slowest on the mountains. Once up heater off A/C on and thanks Toyota for the great brakes on the way down. Managed to get an indicated 90 MPH on the Autobahn, not for long as it jumped about a bit, and on one stage 37 MPG, overall 32 MPG which I think is pretty good.
Had so much attention in the car parks, "Ist das ein Toyota?" , catch phrase of the trip.
If only I had a 4x4, some of those small mountain roads looked so inviting.....
