(Home) Interval switch for windscreen wipers

Hi all,

I have a Masterace Surf Year 1991. I am in New Zealand.

The interval switch for the windscreen wipers doesn't work anymore. Do you have an idea? Can somebody tell me where I find the module? I did a search on AceAnswers but nothing came up. If I switch to interval, it just doesn't do anyting. The wipers are ok in normal or fast.

Thanks a lot.

Cheers

Peter

Not an answer to your question - but sometimes a spray of WD40 (moisture dispersant)or similar can help clear the electric tracks on such switches. It got my indicators working on another vehicle I had (bad/dirty contacts in switch). May be worth a try before pulling things apart...

The interval setting is just a variable resistor. As Chris says, could be a bad contact. There'll be two wires from that to the module, and the module is under the dash. Can't remember where precisely. It's named wiper delay IIRC.

Thank you both for your replies. I will try the WD40. Good idea, Chis.

If all else fails that unit is out of the parts bin and not specific only to the Aces - shouldn't be too hard to find.

Hi folks!
Could anyone very kindly guide me as to where I can find diagrams & explanations of how a windscreen wiper system actually works, also including how the cleaning fluid (or water) spray mechanism exactly functions please?
I'm not at all savvy in auto mechanics; but (I don't know why) I feel extremely curious about this topic.
Thanks in advance for your help & guidance.
Cheers.

This link is not yet on Ace Answers but it may help, though it's for post-92 Townaces ... http://mpvi.net/im/rm289e92/ewd/19wipers.gif
