(Home) Low oil pressure? warning in Spacecruiser (Sp+)

Hello there. Can anyone help? The oil pressure warning light is coming on after driving my space cruiser for about half an hour - but goes off as soon as I accelerate. I have checked to oil level and it is fine, and have ordered a new oil pressure sensor.

Any other advise would be appreciated,

Cheers

Tired engine, old oil and/or filter?
Have you tried a flush and refill with a quality oil?
If it is just at tickover I would not worry to much. If it is under power then get it investigated, maybe oil pump on the way out?

Thanks for that, I have now tested the oil pressure.

Having run the engine for half an hour, the oil pressure was

1.6 bar (23.2 psi) @ tick over

4.8 bar (69.6 psi) @ 3000 rpm

Does anyone know if this is OK??

During this test the oil warning light did not come on - as it only appears to flash when the car is coming up to roundabouts, or when there is a rapid reduction in revs,

Cheers

Pressure sounds OK.
As it's when the engine is dropped to idle, and it is only a flash and not a constant light, I would not worry about it.

Perhasp there is a oil level controler in the crank-case couple with the oil pressure. Mine in KO and I "short-circuit" it.

Are you sure it is not the oil level light. Mine flickers as you describe when it is approximately half full.

Hi, thanks for you're comments. I am really unsure what the problem is. Having tested the pressure I am pretty confident it is OK. Oil is new & Oil level is OK.

I have fitted a new oil pressure sensor, and the oil pressure guage is now permantly reading low, and the light only flashes when I come up to a roundabout off a slip-road having been speeding along (well 65mph!)

Confusing!
