(Home) Front bodywork damage

Sad news. Sunday I ran into the back of a old bmw 318i
and made a small dent in the bumper and broke his stop lamp lens.
Our 1990 2.0lt td royal lounge bad. Bumper fog lamp lighting unit 1 headlight dent near enough in the middle of front panel and slight bending of metal from bumper supports etc.
Took to l/v ins garage for engineer to inspect and photograph also put on ramps and checked steering etc.
To-day another assessor came to look 08.10.
He called me at 5.45 tea time after calling to the first body garage and told me because of the cost of the parts and labour it is a total lost.
Talked about figure of 3.200 or salvage to me.
Any coments all welcome Dont tell me I need glasses though I have picked my new ones from specsavers today. Ha Ha.

Comments? Take the salvage, get s/h parts, and you're in the money...
The only "bodywork" sounds like the front panel. You mean above the lights? Get that filled and sprayed, hammer any bent brackets straight, put replacement parts on. Sorted...

Prompted me enought Dave.
Sorted the salvage today Sat
Could you give me some advice please?
I have emailed bbc spares on Friday but have not had a reply, is the address I got from the archives correct?

I am in bad need of the fog light unit,, bumper not to bad, the dent is right behind my cold box and I am not sure how to get out and will the gas escape.
The dent is right on the edge next to the fogs.
Most of the brackets went back ok.
Spent all day on it with the better halfs help.

Could not have happened at a worst time as we on hol week monday.

Still there's never a good time to bang our beloved townie. 1990 2td royal lounge.

If the paint is broken already, the easiest way to sort the dent is to screw a self- tapper into it and pull on it...
Nightmare job to get the coolbox out, you don't want to do that. Why not just get a cheap local bodyshop to sort that bit?

BBC spares has been out of office for the last week.

I would not touch the cold box as it would require an A/C engineer to remove, and it may not help you much as there are some crossmembers in the way.

Have you tried a visit to a panel beaters to see if they have any ideas?

Never thought about the screw idea.
I will take it to local body shop for estimate.

Will keep in touch.
