I own a 1996 N reg Estima Emina and it has developed a rattle. When the engine has warmed up there is a destinctive rattling sound, when idling, that I have traced to the driveshaft that leads from the engine to the radiator fan/alternator/steering pump. Is this down to a broken universal joint in the shaft or is it the alternator? I ask about the alternator because when I switch the headlights on (or sometimes off!), the rattling stops.
