(Home) Head lights for france

Help! Recently moved to France and have been told that my model - Liteace GXL (1991) was only made in a right hand drive and that I can not purchase headlights that point to the right. It is compulsory that I change my headlights in order to re-register my car. I really would like to keep the car I would appreciate any feedback with regards to adjusting the lights. Is this something that can be done at home or should I take the car to a garrage?

Sourcing a near fit housing would be the first step.
Keep in mind that the unit may well have different adjusters so best get housing and matching headlights. Fitting and connecting depends on how confident you are. Adjustment best left to a garage with the correct equipment, the old trick of parking front on to a blank wall at night, may get the beams near enough but not spot on.
The VW square units from the Caravelle van may be an option, and readily available.

Thanks for the quick response 'Clive'.

I'm still confused! Would I need to buy new lights or would it be possible to adjust the current ones? It would be excellent if you could adjust the current ones. I can't find any information on the Bulletin board under Dashboard, Lights external folder. I will try and book into a garrage in France but with limited language it is abit difficult!

You will need to buy replacement lights.
The older type light that these vehicles have are not adjustable. The lens does the work, look at the pattern on the front. Beam deflectors change the dipped lights from pointing left to pointing right. You need the lens or more likely the whole unit changed to one that is manufactured to point right to pass the French registration.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I think my best option is to bring it back to the UK and sell it.
