(Home) Manuals (Sp+)

I have just won an auction for the Chilton Toyota Van repair manual (US Spacecruiser), from ebay, I have been after it for over a year.
I notice that they also list, on their web site www.motortraders.net
Tarago (Oz Spacecruiser), Previa and a stack of Hi-Ace manuals. I know these are either US or AUS models but it will the closest you can get.
I'm still trying to get the Russian manual but can't get the Russians to post out of Russia.

Clive.
I'm trying to hatch something of a plan here. Mervin from Russia is visiting London soon, and I am trying to arrange to meet him in London. Hopefully he will have a couple of Russian Townace manuals and I will have a couple of radiator caps. If I can pull it off, I will let you know.

Umm, not to rain on any parades, but I had the Chiltons. Jim Adgo has it now, and there aint much in it new to you Clive :(

Now, if you wanted a full manual for Grand Vitara I could help...

Just to keep the negative theme going here ....

Just what will you do with a couple of Russian manuals Dave? Unless of course you have bilingual talents in this area that we were unaware of. Mark's attempts to translate his for the past 4 years have been pretty fruitless.

If the Chiltons just goes over old ground, I'll pass it on no problem.
I was passing the info on for Hi-Ace/Previa(all types?)/Spacecruiser owners who have nothing.
I also have an iron in the fire for a workshop manual on CD, more on that if it turns up.
The Russian manual has idiot pictures, and you can always run bits through the online translation.
Stop giving me the negative waves, to quote/mis quote a line from a film somewhere.

The Chilton's is good for the suspension and aircon and maybe propping open a door. As for diagrams, is the Toyota EPC no good?

Negative waves? Well hush my mouth (or should that be keyboard?)

- (#10913) Ian Dunse, 2 Oct 03 9:42

Just to add my twopence worth. The drawings from the EPC are the ones in the Russian manual.

Hello all.
I don't have bilingual talents sadly, otherwise I would have fessed up, and tried to translate it by now. My plan was for only one manual, but as Clive has says he's been trying to get one for ages, I thought I'd get one for him as well.

I am particularly interested in the wiring diagrams, and yes I know the colour codes are different, but it will still give some indication of how everything is connected up.

I believe that the attempts to translate it have been thawted by the £2500 cost, and I haddn't realised that the drawings are from the epc.

Just to add some positve waves, the price for a full workshop manual in Russian is a staggering $10 thats about £6.50 Ok it means traveling to London, but I've been meaning to do that for some time now.

Sorry Dave. Trouble with e-mail/bulletin boards is that they are 2 dimensional and sometimes difficult to tell when someone is trying to wind you up. As we've said before on this forum, any available information about the Townace is worth having and fortunately between us we've collected quite a bit. As you say $10 isn't much to pay. Might even cadge a look myself at a future Acejam.

Enjoy your trip to the smoke and give my regards to Mervin.

Ian.
I know exactly what you mean by two dimensional, and I did think you were “talking tongue in cheek” so to say, so no need to apologise. You will be most welcome to view it any time you like, I could even pop it in the post if you promise to return it.

I recently bought a 1986 Space Cruiser. It's a bit rough (I only paid £200) and the oil pressure takes a few seconds to pick up when you start it, but it goes quite well and we've covered a couple of thousand miles in it with no problems. Recently the warning light in the bottom right hand corner started coming on, it looks like a filter so I changed the oil and oil filter and checked the air cleaner which was fine. Despite this, it still come on and as I have no documentation at all I don't know what it's trying to warn me about! Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

Steve, you should have started a new thread...
Is the light orange? Low coolant level.
Does it do out after a few miles, when the engine is hot? Low coolant level.

Thanks for the reply. As it happended, I'd had another look at the warning light and decided that it wasn't a picture of a filter but was a radiator. On checking the water level it was a bit low, taking maybe a pint and a bit to top it up and hey presto, no warning light!

Unfortunately, when tackling the 'bit' of welding required for the MOT I found that both of the rear wheel arches were very rusty, with one virtualy pulling away from the floor pan completely, plus half of one sill being full of filler! Still, it's nearly sorted now and I still thinks it was a bargain for £200!
