(Home) Towing problems

Hi,
I wonder if you might be able to help me or advise?
I have a G reg Toyota Hilux Surf (import) with jacked up suspension. Whilst towing my boat last week, the clutch seemed to be slipping when accelelrating. I have had the clutch plate renewed and it did not solve the problem. Then it as suggested that the problem might be the transfer box on the gearbox. I duly had this replaced and it still made no difference. Can you suggest what might be the problem, I am at a loss to know what to look at next.
Yours

I’m not familiar with the Hilux, but some possibilities do spring to mind. If the transfer box and clutch have not solved the problem, it may be the pressure plate in the clutch, or maybe the clutch needs to be changed for a heavy duty one. Also I believe some 4x4 vehicles use a viscous coupling on the drive to each wheel. This allows constant drive to each wheel, at the same time allowing a degree of slippage to compensate for cornering.
