can anyone help me please
my pride and joy is back on the road but now i have a new problem!when i start the engine it starts great but to drive it is another story ,we can`t get down the street without thick black smoke my revs sticking on 0 then going to 3 then back to 0 and when it does try to change gear it nearly pulls my bloody head off,it feels like im driving a kangaroo.can anyone help please-i`ve just had it back after engine over all

You'd need to tell us what engine and gearbox, and what works were done before anyone can be of much help...

my engine is 2.0turbo,the gearbox is automatic and the work we had done on the engine was a new cylinder head gasket,the head skimmed,new desiel pump,injecters flushed as it was only operating on 3 injecters.This work took 12mths to complete and i don`t want to wait this long again.

I'd take it back to whoever did the work but...

Timing? Was the cambelt fitted correctly
Was the diesel pump timed with a dialgauge or was it guestimated?

Is the pump known good?

Were the break pressures set in the injectors?

Are all the filters new?

Thanks for replying Dave,taken it back well he`s sold up his buissness but i still have contact so i`ll be following it up but i`ve put it in for a check over at a garage in Trentham S-o-T.Break presure set in injecters-Potteries diesel had the van for 6 mths as it kept firing on 3 injectors instead of all four even when we hsd it back this kept happening bit no matter where i took it all garages said they would need to send it to a diesel specialist -which of course is potteries diesel.I have lost faith in these guys just because i`m a woman they think they can give me the runaround

Firing on three? From cold or when running? From cold, likely to be compression or glowplug, all the time, would suspect low compression/ duff injector/ duff pump. Not exactly rocket science. There's got to be a choice of diesel specialists within a short distance, tho...
